Summer Competition Grand Final Decided!

In a thrilling match the Broom Mates have overcome their opponents, the Pirates and are now just one step away from the title in their maiden season.

Lead by ex-Pirates Michelle Ramirez and Ben Boyd the Broom Mates pushed the pace in the opening quarter of the game only to be held at bay by a staunch defensive unit. The Broom Mates fell away late in the first half, providing an opportunity for the Pirates attack to capitalize, putting two away before the half.

With the second half set for an all out attack the Broom Mates quickly asserted dominance, capitalizing on the Pirates mistakes and leveling the match at 2 all. The game went into an end to end affair with an all out slog until the final whistle.

The game was going for overtime, a 4v4 showdown without goal tenders, as regulation ended and the scores were locked at 2-2.

From the draw the Broomies proved too strong, moving the ball into the Pirates half and asserting their dangerous long range game, with Ben Boyd taking the opportunity presented to who when the Pirates defense squandered possession, netting the winner with a long range bomb.

The Broom Mates now move into the Grand Final, facing the Stalkers who finished minor premiers after the regular season.

The ball drops at 4pm on the 6th of March at Phillip Swimming and Skating Center. Entry is free!
